CREATIVE RESIDENCY AT STUDIO WAYNE MCGREGOR FOR EMERGING ARTISTS PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES OF DANCE, MOVEMENT & PHYSICAL INTELLIGENCE.  

Studio Wayne McGregor is committed to the development of early career artists across disciplines, and to championing the vital freelance talent on which our sector relies. We recognise that artists lack not just funding but space, practical support, networks, and  creative community. Great art in today’s fast-moving cultural and technological landscape is made not in isolation, but as a result of longer-term dialogue, connection and collaboration.  

RESIDENT 6 invites six emerging artists based in London to make Studio Wayne McGregor their home for a year. Connected by a commitment to creative rigour rooted in physical practice, these six artists will inhabit the heart of our global creative network comprising dancers, choreographers, writers, composers, producers, creative technologists, visual artists, sound designers and more. 

Each artist receives: 
• Flexible access to world-class studios and work spaces  
• £5,000 of development funding  
• Support for public sharing  
• Personal mentorship from Sir Wayne McGregor  
• Training in, and use of, the Studio Wayne McGregor Smart Studio. The Smart Studio comprises five, remote operated camera’s and a live-editing suite, to livestream activity across the globe.  
• The extensive experience of our expert team, and wider Here East innovation community offered through monthly workshops at Studio Wayne McGregor  
• Access to our unparalleled national network of creative and digital partners  
• Introductions into our unmatched global network of creative people, places and institutions  
• Light touch support beyond the end of the residency programme

RESIDENT 6 is designed for 6 individual artists, however we will accept applications from artists applying as a duo who have a track record of shared practice. Larger group applications will not be considered. We encourage artists whose practice holds community collaboration at its core to apply.

Studio Wayne McGregor is committed to challenging barriers and widening choice.
