About Studio Wayne McGregor 

Studio Wayne McGregor is a home for radical movement-making, interdisciplinary collaboration and physical thinking. Led by choreographer and director Sir Wayne McGregor CBE, the Studio exists to explore what the body can do – bringing together artists, scientists, technologists, and communities to create new work, develop the next generation of talent, and explore what the body can do.  

Based at Here East in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London, with an additional base in Lamu, Kenya, the Studio provides a home for McGregor’s own creative work while opening its doors to emerging interdisciplinary artists. Dancers, writers, composers, producers, software engineers, visual artists, scientists, and other makers work alongside one another here at Studio Wayne McGregor, generating new thought, art and collaboration through movement.  

The Studio’s work spans five interconnected strands. Touring and licensing bring both new creations from Company Wayne McGregor, as well as established favourites, to stages both in the UK and internationally. International commissions extend the Studio’s practice into visual arts, film, theatre, and opera, working with major cultural institutions and artists across disciplines. Creative learning and engagement programmes open up choreographic thinking to participants of all ages and backgrounds. Artist development supports the next generation of choreographers and interdisciplinary makers through residencies, mentorships, and space to experiment. Last but not least, McGregor’s research interests interrogate physical thinking itself – investigating what dance and the moving body can reveal about science, technology, and the human experience.  

Our Space 

Studio Wayne McGregor’s London home is based at Here East at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, one of the capital’s most inventive campuses. Opened in 2017 and designed by We Not I, the building houses three dance studios, two of which are amongst the largest in London, alongside a series of flexible spaces where artists can gather, experiment, and collaborate across disciplines. Studio Wayne McGregor was the first arts organisation to move into the Olympic Park and has since been joined by other industry leaders including the V&A East Storehouse.
