Studio Wayne McGregor has a long standing relationship with National Youth Dance Wales that commenced in 2001 with Wayne McGregor’s appointment as Guest Artistic Director. McGregor created Hive in 2011, a site-specific piece involving fifty young dancers performing at the National Botanical Gardens of Wales. In 2002 he created Game of Halves, an innovative remote location performance that linked work created by young people in north and south Wales through video conferencing.

In 2014 Associate Director Odette Hughes was invited to be Artistic Director of National Youth Dance Wales and created H3RE a piece exploring the landscape, myths and architecture of Wales. The piece premiered in July 2014 at the Sherman Theatre, Cardiff  and Theatre Clywd, Mold and was performed again at these venues in July 2015.
